lahore: Railway Police Recover 658 Runaway Boys and Girls, Hand Them Over to Families
Lahore: Railway stations in the city have increasingly become a refuge for children who run away from home. During the year 2025, the Railway Police recovered 658 runaway boys and girls from various railway stations and safely reunited them with their families.
According to official statistics, the recovered children included 413 boys and 245 girls who had fled their homes and reached different railway stations. After completing necessary procedures, all of them were handed over to their respective guardians.
The data further reveals that most of the girls were between 15 and 18 years of age, while the boys were aged between 14 and 17 years. A significant number of these children belonged to the 12 to 15 age group. Many of them had run away due to difficult domestic circumstances and were either attempting to reach relatives or surviving at railway stations.
During initial inquiries and investigations, most children cited reasons such as unemployment, lack of food, strict behavior of parents, forced labor, the glamour of social media, romantic relationships, and the desire for a better lifestyle as the main factors behind leaving their homes.
